Asian Marriage Rites

Asian bride festivities are full of rich culture and traditions. From elaborate meals to stunning hand- drawn henna designs on the bride’s hands and feet, to the symbolic lighting of a divine fire and tying of the couple together with silk ribbons, each detail is considered to be metaphorical and significant for the marriage.

Numerous couples consult a fortune teller or a Chinese friar to help them choose an auspicious time for their ceremony. They even seek out the advice of their elders and ask them hot japs to offer their blessings on the federation.

Customers generally offer items to the bride and groom at the meeting. The groom’s household commonly offers a scented handkerchief to the wife, and the bride’s parents give the partners decorated stems of Sakaki ( a sacred branch used in adoration of gods). There is no best man or giving away of the wedding in a Shinto ceremony festival and a few terms are spoken by the pastor before the festival concludes with the few offering the leaves of Sakaki collectively.

In Indian wedding rites, the wife wears a lehenga which is a longer piece of fabric draped around the figure and embellished with elaborate stitching. The bridegroom wears a kurta which is a much coat- like garment. At the service, friends pour holy water from their shell shells over the couple’s joined hands to bless them and offer their best wishes. During the greeting, there are usually lion dancing which are believed to ward off evil spirits.
